The dunes is an ode to the Dutch love of their sandy hills. We've put the Dutch language poem by Marco Kunst and our original English language translation to music. Turn on your speakers, close your eyes and be whisked away to the dunes and the sea.

Duinen zijn reserve strand
Bescheiden bergen zilt zacht zand
Die lomig liggen langs de rand
Van al dat weidse lageland

Van op het duin zie je de zee
Grijs en log, daar ver benee
Deinend, likkend aan het strand
In golvend eb- en vloed verband

Van op het duin zie je de wegen
Bochtig door het land bewegen
Groene velden, akkers, tuinen
Al dat land omhelsd door duinen

De wind blies al die heuvels zand
Streepte dijken langs het strand
Schreef de zee weg van het land

A pseudo-beach, the dunes are perched
Modest mounds of silty sand
Lying lang’rous on the edge
Of this great wide-open land

From the dunes, out to sea
Hulking grey, far down below
Swelling, licking, up the beach
In her rolling ebb and flow

Lay your eyes on a road to nowhere
Over the hills and far away
Past fields and farms and tended gardens
That within these sandy walls remain

The wind blew all that shifting stone
Leaving dykes in a stripy spoor
Drew a line ‘twixt land and sea
With living brushstrokes on the shore
